young man that raped a deaf and dumb

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Nurudeen Akintoye, 20 for forcefully having unlawful carnal knowledge of an 18-year old deaf and dumb girl. The Command’s spokesman, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed that “the incident happened on the 7th of June at about 9.45 pm when the suspect who lives in Ajura, a community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, lured the victim into a bush and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her”. Oyeyemi stated that “the victim, who the parents claimed was a virgin before the incident was bleeding profusely from her private part, the sight of which enraged the people of the area and they attempted to apply jungle justice on the suspect”. But for the timely intervention of the DPO, Owode Egba Division; the situation would probably have degenerated. “CSP Shehu Alao quickly led his men to the scene to save the situation as the suspect was quickly arrested to the station”, Oyeyemi stated. The victim was taken to the General Hospital, Owode Egba for immediate medical attention.. Meanwhile, the commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect. The CP also warned members of the public to desist from applying jungle justice on anybody suspected of committing any crime, as all suspects are presumed to be innocent until a court of competent jurisdiction states otherwise.
